DP Works in Progress 2016 Shelley Beautiful Face

Continuing the All Dressed Up series
In this series of photographs I wanted to focus on the face as it applies to care and procedures women go through to obtain perfect skin. I turned this project on it's head by trying to showcase the "darker" side of these routines.  Shelley and I filmed performances where she used different products on her face. They were all essentially masks. These masks when taken slightly out of context left us both uneasy. The routine of it all was exhausting. We found out how it feels to go through these processes. We had to imagine doing them every night. It didn't feel like perfection, it seemed lonely and disturbing to watch her having to watch herself applying all these things in a dark house alone, for no one.
